How to Cut the Total Cost of Ownership ?

Total Cost of OwnershipIt is too early to give a precise cost estimate. But it is clear that in the public sector, only the most cost-effective engineering solution has a fair chance of gaining attention.

The RED System´s engineering crew has given high priority to presenting a powerful seismic network that can be run for many years on a tight budget.

A compact seismic station according to our concept and, including robust telemetry could be produced in the range of US$ 1,500 to US$ 3,000, depending on the different options and extras.

A dense seismic network of more than 3,000 stations capable of monitoring the entire SFBA and providing early warning functions can be installed with an initial hardware investment in the range of 5 to 10 million dollars. Thus the Total Cost of Ownership (i.e. installations, maintenance and all manpower to run the network operation center) added up to ten years of operation can be estimated to range between 15 and 30 million dollars.

A more exact figure can be given as soon as additional system parameters have been more precisely determined.
