Basic System Components

Introduction

The seismic network, introduced on this website is called the RED System. The meaning behind the acronym RED is explained in: What´s RED?

To simplify our description of the system, we have divided it into five basic components. The system`s architecture will be discussed in the following segments:

The five basic components are—at first glance—physically as well as logically completely separate entities. The RED System involves many complex functions, several of which are the result of diligent optimization throughout the system. One good example of the complex interaction of hard- and software modules in the system‘s architecture is its ADT radio timing.
